Kilkenny and Shelbourne kicked off their final game of the woman’s national league under the floodlights of the watershed. Both teams started strong and were creating chances. Shelbourne took the lead after 10 minutes through Leanne Kiernan. They were 2:0 9 minutes later. Kilkenny didn’t let that phase them and kept the pressure on Shelbourne. Jennifer Chambers came close, but her shot was wide. Megan Butler pulled off some great saves to keep Kilkenny in the game. Things went from bad to worse for Kilkenny shortly after when Megan Butler pulled off a great save only for the ball to fall to Gloria Douglas to tap it in to make it 3:0. Kilkenny’s goal was again under threat only for Megan Butler to pull of another great save. Leanne Kiernan got the forth and Gloria Douglas grabbed her second to make it 5:0 within the space of 3 minutes. Kilkenny kept fighting but the Shelbourne defense stood strong. On the 37^th minute Shelbourne were now cursing at 5:0 through Roma McLaughlin and she made it 6:0 just before half time when she headed the ball in from a corner to get her hat trick.

Kilkenny kicked off the second half and were creating chances and keeping the pressure on Shelbourne. Megan Butler was pulling off some great saves also in the Kilkenny Goal. Leanne Kiernan grabbed her second to make it 7:0 in the 75^th minute. They made it 8:0 in the 77^th minute. Kilkenny kept fighting and were rewarded with a goal when Bronagh Kane took a shot from outside the box and the ball nestled in the top corner. It was nothing more then Kilkenny United deserved. Megan was pulling off some more great saves and Kilkenny were on the hunt for their second goal but to no avail. Roma McLaughlin grabbed her hat trick just before the end of the game.
