Both teams started strong and created chances. In the 20th minute Kilkenny united were forced to make a change when Bronagh Kane was forced off with an injury and was replaced by Leeann Payne. Both clubs continued to create chances and Trish Fennelly made some great saves to keep the score at 0:0 at half time. Kilkenny made another sub before the second half with Niamh Kelly replacing Bethany Carroll. This seemed to work but in the 53rd minute Wexford were ahead with a goal from Claire O Riordan. This was followed by another goal from Kylie Murphy 4 minutes later. Kilkenny then start to put some pressure onto Wexford but in the 75th minute Wexford made it 3:0 when a counter attack by Wexford lead to a long ball to Claire O Riordan who slotted the ball home and in the 82nd minute Kylie Murphy made it 4:0.
